Sucarita sutta: Good Conduct

This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.

“Mendicants, there are these kinds of good conduct. What three? Good conduct by way of body, speech, and mind. These are the three kinds of good conduct.”

The Buddha spoke this matter. On this it is said:

“Having given up bad conduct
by way of body,
speech, and mind,
and whatever else is corrupt;

not having done bad deeds,
and having done many good,
when their body breaks up, that wise person
is reborn in heaven.”

This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
